The slate for this piece came from the historic East Monitor Barn in Richmond. I found these roof tiles in a discard pile that consisted of broken and unusable pieces. I collected slate that still had the holes for roofing and assembled them to create a puzzle of overlapping shingles. The circle was ground in to highlight the different textures and colors of the stone.
